Do I really need to have a niche that I specialise in? (No replies)
If you want to be very successful then yes. This just makes everything easier. By becoming known for a specific thing, you will be seen as the expert and people will hunt you out. Also as an expert you can generally charge higher fees or capture a larger slice of the market. Our experience is those without a niche and are trying to cover many different things, end up not doing well at all. It confuses people when you try to be “everything to all” and as you haven’t really specified what you can really solve, they are unlikely to want to buy from you. A large part of marketing is getting this right. Everyone can have a niche (or two or three) and we spend a lot of time covering this with people.
